Big changes are coming to Strathbungo! Have your say!
We have got wind of an upcoming council proposal, due in late August, that will likely propose major changes to the roads, and the bins, in the area. The aim is to tackle three problems:
1. How to introduce the pavement parking ban (our exemption is only temporary)
2. How to introduce a residents’ parking permit scheme
3. How to improve bin collection, possibly by using on-road communal collection points
The Society hopes to influence any plans for the better when they come, but we realise opinions vary.

I find the proposal of the on road bin hubs an utter disgrace. We live in a beautiful conservation area which is now possibly going to have these monstrous bin hubs in full site and for some unlucky homeowners these bins will be located right outside the front on their home, I can only pray its not mine. The whole idea is ludicrous, taking us back to the dark ages with household waste sitting at the front of our homes. It will take just one failed bin collection to happen and as a result the bins will start to overflow onto our beautiful streets. This kind of setup in our culture will only encourage folk to simply start dumping unwanted items next to the located bin hubs as is the case in Govenhill and Pollokshields. I myself object to the very idea of this and I hope that many others do also. An utter disgrace and could in time pave the way for our beautiful streets to go into decline. Somebody somewhere doesn’t seem to be doing their job properly because putting your household waste at the front of your house seems nothing short of going in the wrong direction. Not to mention the smell. Bins have been kept out of site for a reason. Wake up!!
