This year, at the start of March, Strathbungo once again showed itself in its best light. Windows across the Squares, Gardens and beyond lit up with an array of colourful displays. Everything from scenes of King Kong and Batman to books and theatrical displays, and folk once again came from across Glasgow and the Southside to wander the trail on a cold night with a hot drink in hand.

Thanks to everyone who took part, and to those who came out to look. The neighbourhood as usual on these nights was full of joy. The Window Wanderland experience really is one of those nights that makes the place feel special.

There’s no getting away from it, though: there were noticeably fewer windows lit this year than in years past. An event like this only works when enough of us join in, and it only happens at all because a few people give up their evenings and weekends to organise it.

So, before any planning starts for next year’s event, we’d like to know where you stand. We’re running a short poll asking whether Window Wanderland should continue, whether you’d put up a window, and whether you’d lend a hand organising it. It only takes a minute:

Please fill it in by Monday 30 November, even if your answer is “not this year”. We just want honest feedback from residents, and don’t want to be forcing things that the majority may have moved on from.

If Window Wanderland is to continue, we will also be looking for volunteers and some fresh input. Any help would be welcome, but ideally we’re looking to form a small group willing to take the reins and develop the event going forward. If that sounds of interest to you, or you’d just like to help with the map or spreading the word, tick the box in the poll or get in touch through the Window Wanderland WhatsApp group or the Strathbungo Society’s usual channels.

If Window Wanderland is going to keep lighting up Strathbungo, we need a few more hands on the switch.
