Bungo at the Bells 2014

Bungo at the Bells 2014

Thanks to everyone who came along for Bungo at the Bells to welcome in 2014. The weather was kind, it seems a good time was had by all, and some even lasted well beyond 2am, to hear a lovely vocal rendition of Rose Royce’s Wishing on a Star after the music had finished.

Thanks in particular to the Strathbungo Society for supporting the event, Teresa Mooney for doing most of the preparation, the Suttons, Dimmocks and Stephen Lamb for helping dish out the mulled wine and other freebies, the mystery piper of Strathbungo for making another appearance, the second mystery piper for joining in, those who made donations to the Society’s funds, and for those who helped tidy up. One lost mobile has been returned to its owner, but anyone seen a lost earring?

Thanks also to those who said thank you to us – it makes it all the more worthwhile putting the effort in.

Let’s hope 2014 continues in such good form.

Bungo Birl

Hey Birlers! Just to let you all know we raised an enormous £500 at the Bungo Birl!! Well done everyone and a huge THANK YOU!!

Those funds will go toward mince pies and mulled wine at this year’s Bungo at the Bells and to the other fab The Strathbungo Society events next year – a new one being The Bungo Games, especially to celebrate the Commonwealth Games. See the link below, please come and lend your support.

Anyhoo! Thanks again everyone and see you for a Birl next year!!

The Bungo Games!

It’s less than a year until Glasgow hosts one of the biggest occasions in the sporting calendar.

The Commonwealth Games are coming to town!

The Strathbungo Society want to mark this huge occasion by hosting our own Games in our own streets. It’s a street party with races!

We want it to be YOUR games, so need YOUR help in deciding what we do on the day. We’re having a brainstorming session downstairs at The Bungo on Sunday 8th December, 4-5.30pm. What races would you like to take part in? Egg and spoon? Sack Race? Could we do syncronised apple bobbing? Or should we have more serious games, like the 100m, long jump. The choice is yours!

These games are for everyone. We’ve arranged the brainstorm for a Sunday afternoon, so that we can hear from children, grandparents and everyone in between.

We will be looking for members to be part of the organising group and volunteers on the day, but this is specifically a brainstorm to hear what you would like to do on the day.

ALL WELCOME!

Sunday 8th December, downstairs at The Bungo 4.00 – 5.30pm

What a great night! We hope everyone had a fab time. It would be good to hear your feedback on the night, good and bad so that we can improve for next year’s Bungo Birl. Please leave comments – it will be really helpful.

Leave photos if you want to. It would be good to see what everyone got up to!

Thanks again everyone!
