Bungo in the Back Lanes – volunteers needed!

With just 6 days to go until Strathbungo’s favourite mini-festival gets underway, we’re on the lookout for any volunteers keen to help out at Bungo in the Back Lanes.

If you are available to help, we’re looking for people to assist in the following areas: Tombola Stall; Raffle Stall; help putting up tables and gazebos; help with the knock-down and clean up.

Any time and effort people can offer is much appreciated. The success and continuation of events such as Bungo in the Back Lanes depends upon the kindness of people willing to help out. It’s also a great way to meet your neighbours and get stuck in with events in your community.

If you don’t have plans for the day already, then please consider volunteering. E-mail Teresa at chair@strathbungo.co.uk

Bungo In The Back Lanes Does Games

Revellers at this year’s event will see a variety of games and sports taking place in the lanes and gardens of Strathbungo, as Bungo In The Back Lanes shows its support for Glasgow’s upcoming Commonwealth Games. With activities ranging from sack races and yoga to croquet and football, there should be something for everyone.

Famous for its residents’ stalls selling everything from bric-a-brac and jewellery to homemade food and crafts, Bungo In The Back Lanes is expanding this year and will now take place in the gardens and lanes between Nithsdale Road and Thorncliffe Gardens.

Other features to look out for include: Glad Café Garden; Play in a Shed; New Victoria Allotments plant sale; Babu Bombay Street Kitchen; Merry Go Round’s Childrens Garden with bouncy castle; Sport Glasgow’s coaching sessions; Mr Thompson’s Tea Garden; plus the beer gardens and live music from local bands.

This is a call out to anyone who may wish to  donate home baking and raffle prizes for this year’s Spring Fling on Saturday March 29th. It would be great if people were able to find some small items suitable for the raffle and bake any cakes, biscuits or any other sweet treats. All the events organised by the Strathbungo Society rely on the kindness of people willing to donate and we really do appreciate anything local residents are able to do.
