With a week and a bit to go to Bungo in the Back Lanes, we have some asks for Strathbungo residents and local businesses:

Tombola - we need items for the tombola stall. Anything that you would like to win yourself, bottles of stuff, toiletries, hampers, jars of jam, sweeties or small toys etc. Anything in good condition and unopened. If you’re a local business or shop, please consider us for a donation. Drop off is at 21 Regent Park Square or let us know and we can pick up - email below.

Bottle Stall - always a favourite and usually is the first stall to sell out! All bottles of any kind (but preferably of the alcohol persuasion) to 53 Queen Square (Teresa Mooney) by Wed 19 Jun please.

Homebaking on the day needs to go to the Bungo Tea Garden in the middle of Marywood Lane by 1pm latest please. Chocolate cake, hummingbird cake, cookies, fairy cakes, empire biscuits, scones, sponges - anything that goes with a cuppa!

Volunteers - we need your help on the day! From the set up in the morning and take down in the evening, wandering the lanes with a hi-vis jacket ready for any questions people will fire your way, for the tombola and bottle stall. We need you to make the day go smoothly, even if it’s for an hour. Please email bitbl@strathbungo.co.uk to let us know you can join us.

As always, we can’t do this without our lovely residents participating, and we can’t do this without your donations and volunteering on the day.

T O N I G H T ! !

For one night only Strathbungo’s Windows Wanderland will be in full swing from 6-9pm. Govanhill Voices will be singing at 7pm at Marywood Square at Moray Place and at 8pm on Queen Square.

Please remember that the Strathbungo Square’s and Gardens WON’T be closed to traffic this evening, so there will be residents who will want to park. We have stewards who will allow them along the roads so please be kind and allow them to get along the roads. Car drivers, please be mindful that the roads will be busy with pedestrians and please drive SLOWLY. Again the stewards will be on hand to help you get to your destination. If you have visitors coming, it might be useful to let them know to arrive before 6pm or park close by on wider roads (Titwood Road and Darnley Street for example).

With Windows Wanderland coming up at the end of th

With Windows Wanderland coming up at the end of the month (24th Feb), there might be some newcomers to the area who know nothing about it or folk wondering how they go about creating their windows. There are some of us who still wonder how to do it!

If you’d like to take part and need a little practical help or feel in need of inspiration, the organisers have an afternoon workshop to help you out this Saturday, 10th Feb at The Point on Queens Drive 2-4pm. Bring your materials if you have them or come along to find out more from seasoned Window Wanderlanders about how to create your window art.
