When I say “home”, I actually mean the South Side.
Having moved away several years ago for a bout of country living, we’re looking to move back and are actively looking at property within Strathbungo.
With that being the case, is there any parent / toddler groups handy (my wife is pregnant) etc, to help integrate into the local community.
Looking through the website, it appears that Strathbungo is like a wee village within the South Side!

Friday morning Bounce and Rhyme sessions (free!) at Pollokshields Library (about 5-10mins walk from Strathbungo). Similar sessions are also held at Langside Library on Mondays. They also offer story-time type sessions.

Thursday afternoon baby group at Tramway (very popular group indeed)

A range of local churches also offer baby groups. Destiny church in Shawlands has a huge play area and most of the local churches have some form of baby group.
There is Mini Music Makers classes on Tuesdays in the city centre but they also have classes on Saturday mornings at Tramway: http://www.nycos.co.uk/content/default.asp?page=s6
There’s also baby massage classes at Tramway (again very popular but if you move to the area your health visitor should be able to secure you a referral).
Less formal baby/toddler activities tend to revolve around the great soft play area in Queens Park glass house. http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/Parks_Outdoors/Parks_gardens/queenspark.htm
Finally, there’s a great craft studio called Busy Bees in the area and they offer space for kids to do lovely messy crafty things from the age of about 18 months up in their studio (no cleaning up afterwards!) and also hold craft sessions on Tuesday mornings at Tapa, one of our local cafes.

Laura,
Thank you.
Next up – need to buy the house 🙂
When my daughters were small I went to the Queens Park Baptist Church “Playbreak” It is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10am until 11.15.(not during schoolholidays) It has a great set up and separates babies from toddlers into different play areas. The playgroup is open from birth to school age and it is open to all (ie you don’t need to be a member of the church.) Just go along one morning you will find them very welcoming.
