As you will have seen over the last year or so, the new Glasgow Gurdwara has been built on Albert Drive – next door to the Hidden Gardens and Tramway.  It is the first purpose-built Sikh Gurdwara in Scotland and sits in the heart of the southside of multi-cultural Glasgow.

The opening ceremonies take place on Sunday the 28th of April and are open to all Sikhs and non-Sikhs.

The main events taking place on the day are:

  • Short colourful and loud  procession from old Gurdwara site on  163 Nithsdale Rd at10.30 am. Arrival at new Gurdwara site on Albert Drive at 11am.
  • Raising of the flag at 12 noon.
  •  There will be a wide variety of stalls, activities for children and tours of the building. There will also be an opportunity to sample some of the Langar – food from the free kitchen that is an integral part of any Gurdwara. This is a great opportunity for all the community to come together.
  • In the evening there will be fireworks once it goes dark.
