Glasgow City Council played their part today and have cleared and strimmed the lanes. On a quick walk around this evening, some of the lanes have never looked tidier but there’s always room for improvement.
Please could residents take their bins out of the lanes and into their gardens or tuck them away as discreetly as possible. Getting them out of the lanes makes it much easier for folk to move around.
The weather forecast is not great but also seems quite variable. I’ve seen forecasts for cloud, sunshine and showers and light rain for the event and today’s thunderstorms weren’t on the forecast last night so we’ll take it as we find it. The event will be going on regardless.
There are a few puddles around, especially on Marywood and Queen lane and the stretch between the two – I’d recommend wellies for everyone! There’s also a couple of hazards to watch out for – a rickety fence on Vennard and Moray Place, a hole in the ground on Nithsdale and Regent and some canisters of non-specific liquid on Vennard Gardens.
St Andrew’s Ambulance will be present on the day and the best place to look for lost children is the children’s garden. If in doubt, grab any of the stewards in a hi-vis vest and/or bungo t-shirt.
We’ll see you there!
The people of Strathbungo laugh in the face of rain but our bouncy castle’s insurance company doesn’t. Instead of the bouncy castle we’ll have undercover crafts in the children’s garden, plus book stalls, face painting, temporary tattoos, games, bubbles and some fun try-you-luck items. Oh, and lots and lots of balloons.
A real shame with the weather today 🙁 Hope everyone has fun though while I am slaving away at work!
