A group of people have got together to organise a ceilidh for “Strathbungoites”. The initial do will take place on Sunday 21 September 2008 4:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in the upstairs lounge of McNeills in Torrisdale Street. The owner there formerly managed the Clutha Vaults and the Victoria Bars in the Briggait and is well versed in running this type of entertainment.
The band will be made up of local people albeit they have had their fair share of fame. One member has played in front of 400,000 people at the Isle of Wight Festival whilst the drummer of Frankie Millar’s band the Stoics. Another was the fiddler with one of Scotland’s first and most famous folk bands the Whistlebinkies. We also have the founding member of the Urban Gypsies as well as others who have played at ceilidhs for decades.
The idea is to bring people together in a convivial setting to enjoy themselves in good company with hot food and refreshments available at reasonable prices. We wish to encourage parents to bring their children along and if they wish to participate in the dancing and the music. The first event will be free entry. However it is anticipated that there will be future high demand. At the first session those attending will be provided with a voucher for free entry to the next one which will guarentee places in that high demand scenario.

Outreach Events
Join Busy Bees Craft Studio every Tuesday and Thursday throughout summer on the Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. We will be doing a different nautical themed craft each week. Free with Tall Ship admission ticket.

Crafty Tots 10.30am

We will be at the Southside Festival on Saturday the 28th of June in Queens Park. We’ve got a stall in the marquee next to the bowling club at the Balvicar Drive entrance to the park. Doors open at 12 noon and the parade arrives in the park at 12.45pm. Come along and say hello.
We are looking for donations for the tombola, bottle and lucky dip stalls. Anything will be accepted, including bottles of shampoo, tins of beans, unused fancy goods and so on. Get in touch if you have anything.
Also look out for local scout troups selling raffle tickets and, of course, the map and flyer with full details coming through every letterbox in Strathbungo.
I will be having a big house move clearance sale in my garage including apple computer & monitor, portable TV and other electrical items, some furniture, soft furnishings inc curtains which fit Strathbungo bay windows, very large ladders, collectibles, pictures, crockery, stationery, books, atlases and maps, etc etc. You name it I will probably have one to sell.
