Rubbish collections – or lack of them!

Hi,

can anyone help? I live on Queen Square, and for some reason my Wheelie has not been emptied of rubbish on three occasions over the last 6 or 7 weeks. One week, they just didn’t collect any rubbish from the lane, and it all lay there for two weeks. This week they appear, wait for it, to have emptied some wheelies, randomly, down the lane! Why, I ask myself? I have tried phon ing the Cleansing Dept but no help there.

Anyone else finding the same problem? Any suggestions?
What can I do??? Advice most welcome.

An introduction to jewellery making and beading

Learn how to use polymer clay to create your own unique pieces of jewellery.

This class is aimed at beginners, to allow an introduction to polymer clay in a relaxed and fun way. Two hours fully led by experienced jewellery makers, so help is always at hand for your projects!

Each participant should be able to make 3 or 4 finished pieces and learn lots about findings and stringing your newly created jewellery!

7th August 07. 6.30pm-8.30pm. £10 per person.

Can anyone tell us who was DJing in the garden of 41 Nithsdale Road at Bungo in the Back Lanes? A neighbour particularly enjoyed the calypso version of ‘Cars’ and would love to track down a copy.

Grants for windows

Hi, I live in one of the squares and am having all our sash windows overhauled; they are in a very bad state. Someone mentioned to me that you can get a grant from the city council to help with this. Does anyone know a contact point for this? I am sure others must have done this before me. I am going to phone the council and see what info I can get, but if anyone knows the ropes here and how you do it, I’d be very grateful as it is going to cost me one of my arms and legs!!!

Bungo in the Back Lanes 2007

Bungo in the Back Lanes will be held on Saturday the 16th of June between 1pm and 4pm. Anyone is welcome to set up a stall and donations for the bottle stall and tombola are welcomed. Get in touch for more details.

Also, if you’re interested in setting up, taking down, selling raffle tickets, selling books, relieving a tired volunteer for an hour or anything else that you think would help, get in touch. It doesn’t have to be much, but every little helps make this the biggest and best event in Strathbungo.

The event will go ahead even in the event of rain. All the bars and cafes are covered, so you won’t get wet while taking refreshments.

Looking for a book group

Is there an existing book group in Strathbungo looking for a new member, or anyone want to start one up ? I live in Moray Place and read everything, but especially contemporary fiction, and wouldn’t mind reading and discussing this, as well as some of the classics that I never got round to earlier in life !
